Silvie Cristofoli is an emerging artist working primarily in ceramic art. Their work is recognisable for its hand-painted or sculpted, graphic imagery applied to uniquely shaped clay forms. Each piece is created organically in the moment, with fluid design and evolving shapes forming key elements of the practice. Drawing on folklore, belief systems, old traditions, and the natural world, Silvie’s work explores storytelling through imagery and form.
Over the past two years, Silvie has developed a deep focus on raku firing. Although dramatically different in process from earlier methods, raku has become a natural extension of the practice. The unpredictability of the firing technique — the smoke, crackles, and spontaneous surface effects — aligns closely with the intuitive way the designs are created. Silvie is particularly passionate about teaching raku, finding real joy in the shared excitement and witnessing the surprise and individuality of each finished piece.
